April 2018 - Wow

There were 34 entries in our April competition, The ‘WOW’ Challenge – any subject with just a little something special that makes it stand out, something out of the ordinary, larger than life, powerful or impressive. Something that stands out as special, unique, wonderful or beautiful. That’s WOW!

Well done to all who participated and special congratulations to our finalist:

1st overall and Grade 1 winner – Finbarr O’Hanlon.

2nd overall and Grade 2 winner – Donagh Cronin.

3rd overall – Eimear Quigley.

Grade 3 winner – Helen Coughlan.

Thanks to our 4 POTY judges Ger, Tom, Donagh and Mary for their work on our behalf.  Special Thanks to George who ensures everything runs smoothly with our various competitions and challenges and thank you to all who helped out with this competitions, the teas and display setup and tidy-up etc.  There’s a lot to be done setting up and clearing way every night, so all help appreciated.

Our next competition theme is Signs of Spring. The Format is projected image and the competition date is May 22nd . This competition will be judged by our friends from Mallow Camera Club. Closing date for digital entries is Friday 18th of May.

As reported in last week’s paper, several of our members provided photos for the recent Poetry challenge and some FCC members were also among the winners of the Poetry challenge. Well done to all who took part and special congratulations to George & Deirdre who were winners on the night.

Our Outings Committee have been working very hard on planning various outings for the club – there’s the ‘big trip’ later in the year to Nerja and in the more immediate future there are trips planned to Curraghmore House & Gardens, The Falconry in Kilamllock, The Saltees, and Spike Island. If you are interested in going on any of these outings please contact one of the Outings Committee to book your seat. In the mean time have lots of Fun With Photography.
