28 entries were submitted for our July competition – ‘The Little Things’.  This was a printed competition and judged by club members who attended on the night.  There was a great variety of entries and some very interesting interpretations of ‘little things’. Well done to all who participated and special congrats to our winners;

Congratulations to the winners: 1st Overall Eimear Quigley. 2nd Overall Tom Quish 3rd Overall George O’Keeffe. Our Grade 2 winner was Donagh Cronin and Grade 3 winner was Sheena Hanrahan.  Well done to all.

Our next competition on 28th August is Architecture. This is a projected competition and entries to be emailed by Friday 24th August. Also, our Summer Challenge continues until 11th September - 4 Days Of Summer. One or four photos to be mounted on rear of backing board.

With the beautiful weather in recent weeks there have been many opportunities to get out and about with our cameras. Several groups have been down to Aghada and other coastal areas capturing the sunsets. We also had a recent outing to Spike Island in Cork Harbour. The island known as Ireland’s ‘Alcatraz’ was at one time Europe’s largest prison housing 2300 souls.  There were 19 members aboard the ferry from Cobh on a scorching hot afternoon who were expertly guided around the site by the friendly staff. On retuning to the mainland there was time to explore Cobh and avail of some refreshments before retuning to Fermoy.  Weekend Wanders have taken place to the Goat’s Parlour & Araglen, and Doneraile Park. More info and pictures on these trips on the website and on the social album on Facebook.

Thanks to Helen Coughlan, Monika O’Brien and all involved in organising the outings and wanders and our social media correspondent Padraig Barry. A new WhatsApp Info board has been set up to facilitate sharing of info on upcoming local events, Weekend Wanders, Midweek Wanders, outings and other relevant information. If you have not already joined this group, please contact Sinead. This is strictly an Info Board and not for general chatter!!

We would like to extend our sympathies to our competition secretary George O’Keeffe on therecent passing of his mother Nell O’Keeffe. May she rest in peace.
