October 2018 - Disappearing Ireland

‘Disappearing Ireland’ in colour print was the focus of this month’s challenge at Fermoy Camera Club (FCC).  Over 20 entries were displayed at our meeting on Tuesday 23rd Oct. Well done to all who challenged themselves and entered the competition. Thanks to our 4 person Judging Panel - Sheena, Helen, Sineád & Dave.  The winners were; 1st overall & grade 1 winner Finbarr O’Hanlon’s photo of horse ploughing captured in West Cork. 2nd overall Ger Dorgan with her capture of Bill’s shed. 3rd overall Tom Quish with a lovely spring photo of a moss-covered cottage. Grade 2 winner Louise Howard with an icon picture of the Telefón box and Grade 3 winner Deirdre Casolani with a stunning shot of the light house on Skellig Michael. Well done to all who entered, those who helped set up and tidy up, make tea and all the other jobs that go on behind the scenes.

Our Next Competition night is November 27th when the Photo of Year will be judged.  Any photo taken during 2018 is eligible and ideally, it should be your favourite image of the year and the subject matter would be personal to the photographer, but that’s not compulsory.  The overall winner of this receives the Frank Morgan Cup, a beautiful tribute to one of our founding members. We would encourage all members to bring along their favourite image. And please remember to email to competitions on the previous Friday.

In the meantime, there are lots of photo opportunities around so, keep up the Fun With Photography  and follow us on Facebook & Twitter.
