February 2019 - Exhibition at AIB Fermoy.
It’s been a busy few weeks for FCC members. The month kicked off with a weekend trip to Killareny. Adventure awaited us as we packed up cars with camera bags, tripods, overnight bag, wellies, snacks and lots of dry socks (memories of Mahon Falls!!) to survive the 2-day trip. We would like to express a huge thanks to local photographer and friend of FCC, Mark O’Brien, who spent the day with us from dawn until dusk showing us the highlights of Killarney. Marks’ tutorials and advice were greatly appreciated by all. We went to the Black Valley and found the photographer’s holy grail that was the cottage in Dromluska Black Valley. We had sunset at Ross castle, sunrise at Ladies View and then off the beaten track to many photo spots in Killarney from Torc Waterfall, Upper Torc Waterfall and Muckross Abbey for ghostly photos and the sometimes-surreal woodlands of Ross Island which contains a labyrinth of trails that are worthy of a visit in their own right and made for surreal backdrops to take photos. Huge thanks to Terence and Monica for arranging this trip.
Closer to home, FCC currently has an exhibition running at AIB Fermoy. Be sure to pop in to see the array of phots on display from the 2018 Frank Morgan Memorial Photograph of the Year competition. The competition which runs each year is a fitting tribute to our dear friend Frank RIP. Our thanks to Breeda and Helen for their continued support and for sponsoring the coveted trophy. Thanks to Marie Barry at AIB for giving the space for the exhibition. Thanks also to Battie, Deirdre, Niall, Una, Jim & Bill for setting up the exhibition.
Our competition on 26th February is “Your Choice”. An opportunity to enter your favorite photo taken anytime / anywhere. Again, this is a printed image and we will have table critique on the night so remember to note your setting and a little about your editing / printing / mounting.
The WhatsApp Info board set up last year is to facilitate sharing of info on upcoming local events, Weekend Wanders, Midweek Wanders, outings and other relevant information. This is strictly an Info Board and not for general chatter!! Thanks to Lee who continues to help us with our texting. If you have not already joined these group please contact Sinead.
The committee would appreciate if members could help set up the room, look after the tea and clear up afterwards. A little help goes a long way. Thanks to those who already help. Don’t forget you can find us on Facebook and Twitter. ‘Till the next tine, have lots of Fun With Photography.
