March 2018 - Portraiture

Human Portraiture in mono print was the focus of this month’s challenge at Fermoy Camera Club (FCC).  37 entries were displayed at our meeting on Tuesday 27th March. Well done to all who challenged themselves and entered the competition. Thanks to our 4 person Judging Panel -  Karen Fleming, Basil O’Sullivan, Carmel Finegan and Thomas Walsh. Special thanks to Karen for delivering a great critic on each picture from the 4 judge’s comments.  The winners were; 1st overall & grade 1 winner Karen Fleming. 2nd overall Tom Quish. 3rd overall and grade 2 winner Terence Rumley. Grade 3 winners Sheena Hanrahan.

Our next competition on 24th April is titled ‘WOW’. A photo with the wow factor is called for. Capturing a moment in time or perfect timing etc. This is an open print competition and as per usual in advance of presenting your framed image on the night of the competition, digital copies to be emailed to competition secretary by Friday night 20th April 2018.

The cub held a skills enhancing night on Tuesday 6th March. Members brought along their computers and there was a general sharing of knowledge. There was a great reaction to this first skills workshop and it’s hoped to hold other in the near future. Thanks to those who prepared this for us – Sinead Hickey, Una Finn & Battie Arnold.  We all learned something or had processes demystified (and sharpened !) The words ‘Photshop’ ‘Camera Raw’ and ‘Noise Reduction’ don’t seem as daunting now. Thanks lads.

Next meeting is Tuesday 10th April. In the mean time keep up to date with all our activities on our facebook page @FCCFermoy and on twitter @FermoyCC.  Until the next time...have fun with photography.
