May 2018 - Signs of Spring

Fermoy Camera Club (FCC) members have been busy ‘snapping’ Signs of Spring for the past few weeks and 30 members submitted entries for our projected competition this month which was judges by our friends from Mallow Camera Club.

We’re very thankful to Neilly Curtin, Pat O’Meara, Neil O’Mullane and Jim McSweeney for all the work they put into judging our entries and for the fantastic critique they gave each photo. The critique is really valuable to our members and gives us an understanding of how others view of photos.

Congratulations to our winners this month: Ger Dorgan 1st overall and Grade 1 winner.  Majella O’Neill 2nd and Grade 3 winner. George O’Keeffe 3rd overall. Helen Arnold 4th overall and Grade 2 winner.

Thanks to George O’Keeffe for all the work he puts into running our competition and to all those who helped on the night, setting up the room, taking winners photos, arranging the tea and so on.  Special thanks to Sinead Hickey who has been providing invaluable Photo Shop tuition to members over the last few months. We appreciate the effort put in Sinead and thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us.

Our next competition on 26th June and the theme is “Land or Sea up to me”. This is an printed competition and as per usual in advance of presenting your framed image on the night of the competition, digital copies to be emailed to competition secretary by Friday night 22nd June 2018. This competition will be judged internally.

Next meeting is Tuesday 8th June. In the mean time keep up to date with all our activities on our facebook page @FCCFermoy and on twitter @FermoyCC.  Until the next time...have fun with photography.
